Step 1: Open Microsoft Outlook
Launch Microsoft Outlook on your desktop. If you are setting up an email account for the first time, the "Welcome to Outlook" wizard will automatically appear.
Step 2: Choose "Yes" to Add an Email Account
- If it's your first time opening Outlook, the wizard will prompt you to add an email account. Select "Yes" and click "Next."
Step 3: Select "Manually configure server settings or additional server types"
- Choose the option that says "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" and click "Next."
Step 4: Choose "Internet Email" and Click "Next"
- Select "Internet Email" as the account type and click "Next."
Step 5: Fill in Your User and Server Information
- Your Name: Enter your full name.
- Email Address: Your full email address.
- Account Type: Choose between IMAP or POP3 (IMAP is recommended for most scenarios).
- Incoming Mail Server: Your incoming mail server (provided by your email hosting provider).
- Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): Your outgoing mail server (provided by your email hosting provider).
- User Name: Your full email address.
- Password: Your email account password.
Step 6: Click on "More Settings"
- After entering the required information, click on the "More Settings" button.
Step 7: Configure Outgoing Server and Advanced Settings

Outgoing Server Tab:
- Check "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."
- Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server."

Advanced Tab:
- For IMAP:
- Incoming server (IMAP): 993
- Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL/TLS
- For POP3:
- Incoming server (POP3): 995
- Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL/TLS
- Outgoing server (SMTP): 587
- Use the following type of encrypted connection: STARTTLS (or TLS)
- For IMAP:
Click "OK" when finished.
Step 8: Test Account Settings
- Go back to the main Email Account window and click on "Next."
- Outlook will test the account settings. Ensure that all tests are completed successfully.
Step 9: Complete the Setup
- Once the tests are successful, click "Finish" to complete the setup.
Step 10: Start Using Outlook
- You can now start using Outlook to send and receive emails through your configured account.
